Several neighborhoods along a mile-plus stretch of Tennessee Route 126 are under immediate evacuation orders tonight because of a natural gas line break. Sullivan County emergency officials issued the evacuation order for neighborhoods from Walnut Hill Road to Rock Road just before 6 p.m., and immediately after a 4-inch natural gas pipeline was pierced by a front-loader. Emergency officials said the pipeline is still leaking natural gas, and the situation is extremely volatile.

A consultant for a natural gas plant in Magoffin County has pleaded guilty to forging a state air quality permit for the plant. Peter Grimes, who worked for Energy Management and Services Co., delivered an air quality permit to the owner of Newpoint Midstream plant, when in fact the Division of Air Quality had not issued any permit, said a press release Energy and Environment Cabinet. The state recommended that Grimes be sentenced to three years, with pre-trial diversion possible, and restitution of $  

Rising gas prices won't keep drivers at home this Thanksgiving holiday. AAA reports the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas has climbed to $2.64 nationwide, but 33 million people are expected to hit the road during the holiday weekend. The average price for a gallon of unleaded regular is $2.49 in Tennessee, below the national average, but just enough to make drivers think twice.

U.K.-based BG Group plans to invest $20 billion in Brazil's ambitious sub-sea oil and gas exploration and development projects that are likely to put the country on the map as one of the largest producers of hydrocarbons. A BG Group spokeswoman confirmed the deal after BG Group President in Brazil Nelson Silva announced plans for the investment over 10 years. The BG group funding, although substantial, is small when compared with Brazil's plans to spend $174 billion on sub-salt oil and gas development  

Fuel prices ended the week mixed in mid-Michigan, with prices ranging from 13 cents higher than last week to a nickel lower. Speedway, the regional price leader, brought a lot of prices in line statewide with a price move Tuesday, setting the retail price for a gallon of regular unleaded at $2.66 at all 295 of its outlets. Competitive pressure that varied by market immediately dropped that, but the amount varied substantially by market.
